Ingredients in the formula: Chai Hu (bupleurum root) relieves stagnation in the liver (constriction of emotions) and aooev8ates disharmony of the chest and stomach, controlling such symptoms as bloating, nausea and indigestion. Dang gui (angelica sinensis root) builds and regulates blood and, most importantly, controls contractions of the uterus, stopping craps. Dang gui is an important gynecological herb because it helps balance and harmonize the female organs. Bai Zhu (atractylodes rhizome) improves digestion and assimilation of nutrients and thus helps to build healthier blood. Fu Ling (poria cocos fungus) improves digestion and drains excess fluids. It is very common for women to retain fluids just before their menses, and Fu Ling promotes urination to drain excess dampness. It also helps the other herbs to calm the emotions. Can Cao (licorice root) and Sheng jiang (fresh ginger rhizome) harmonize the formula, improve digestion, and support lung function. Zhi Zi (gardenia fruit) clears heat from the lier and gallbladder and is especially notable for removing irritability.
